As picture book author, what would you say is your most important asset?

Your creativity?

Your determination?

Your computer?

All of these are important, essential even. But they’re not your most important asset.

Your most important asset is simply… you.

Your dream will become more possible (and more worthwhile) when you take the time to invest in yourself.

What does this mean exactly? I’m sure you’ve heard the oxygen mask analogy. When getting ready to take off on a flight, the safety message tells you to put on your oxygen mask first before trying to help someone else with theirs. In other words, you can’t take care of others if you don’t first take care of yourself first.

The same holds true in your pursuit of getting published. You can’t fully commit to your dream of getting published without looking after yourself first. This path is really a marathon. And to sustain your stamina no matter how many days, months or years it takes, you need to nurture your writing AND your entire life outside of writing.

Now this nurturing isn’t self-care (although it will lead to better care of your self). It’s a process to follow every day to optimize your life. By following this system, you’ll be in a better position physically, emotionally and personally to pursue your dream. This investment in you is called the Unstoppable Author Framework.

It's based on the Core 4 developed by Wake-Up Warrior founder Garrett J. White, and the Unstoppable Author Framework consists of devoting time each day to four aspects of your life:

1. Health: Focus on your wellbeing.

2. Heart: Focus on your relationships.

3. Harmony: Focus on your mindset.

4. Hunger: Focus on your writing.

United with your why, your commitment, your consistency and your no-excuse mindset, the Unstoppable Author Framework will make you relentless in your pursuit of becoming a published picture book author.

As an added (and arguably, more important) benefit, the Framework will bring more balance, peace of mind and wellbeing to your everyday life. Investing in yourself is the most worthwhile investment you’ll ever make, one that will pay dividends for the rest of your life.
