Hi, I’m Howard Pearl stein and I am a picture book author.

When I tell people I write picture books, they usually tell me one of three things:

“I’ve always wanted to do that.”

“I’m writing a book now, but I just don’t have time to devote to it.”

“How did you get your book published?”

With so many people interested in this topic, I thought I’d share the exact process I followed to become a traditionally published picture book author. And just for a bit of background, I started writing picture books in 2018 and at the time of recording this, which is August of 2024, I have 11 books published by 5 different publishers and four more books are scheduled to be released over the next two years.

The process that I’m going to share in these videos… it can’t guarantee you’ll get traditionally published (if someone is promising you a way that, I would be extremely skeptical). But these videos will outline the exact steps needed to INCREASE your odds of getting traditionally published – while feeling more confident and positive all along this very difficult and sometimes demoralizing journey.

As you watch these videos, you may wonder why so much of what I’m saying has nothing to do about writing or getting published. This is true – to some extent…

I’d encourage you to trust the process that I’m going to lay out. And that’s what this is, a process. Everything I’m going to talk about works together to build the foundation needed for fulfilling your dream of becoming a traditionally published picture book author.
